Thursday 1 June to Thursday 27 July

Intertwine explores the understanding of material, processes of making and the relationship between human and environment. Commenting on the impact of consumerism and the harmful effect on marine eco-system, ‘Intertwine' series emphasises on the use of recycled materials and develops site-specific work to enhance the understanding of our environment.

This project is working with Victorian Fisheries Authority and the Yabby-Net Swap Program, the wildlife-friendly program includes recycle and repurpose of 20,000 opera-house nets to protect air breathing wildlife, such as native water rats (rakali), platypus and turtles.

About the artist:

Yu Fang Chi is a Taiwan-born, Melbourne-based artist working within textile, silversmithing, sculpture, and spacial installation. In her practice, Chi explores the processes of weaving and the position of human body. Grappling with contemporary issues such as environment, migration, emotional cognition, time’s flowing passage and more explorations of landscape and remoteness, Chi’s work uses processes of repetition, ephemerality, and the interplay of light and shadow to open discussions around contemporary society's pressing topics.
