The Substation was built in 1915 by Victorian Railways and was used to power Melbourne’s railway system for 50 years. After this time, it lay empty for 30 years until it was restored in 1996. The building currently serves as an arts destination showcasing contemporary and experimental arts making a wander through this building a must. The exterior neoclassical design is grand and bold with artworks also being displayed at the rear of the building.
