Stop 14: Laverton Creek Bridge

Capture Hobsons Bay Stop 14 Laverton Creek Bridge

This lovely bridge connects a long coastal trail that runs from Altona Meadows, through Altona and even on to Williamstown. Runners, riders and walkers utilise this bridge at all times of day and night. The view up the river to the wetlands is full of birdlife, and when the water is still, usually early in the mornings, the river looks like glass. Further up towards Altona Meadows are the 100 Steps of Federation with city views or Altona’s Apex Park and beach in the other direction. Just over the fence is the old Explosives Reserve (they have tours here first Sunday of every month). Can you spot the old rail tracks leading to the creek?
