Paper bag trial

We know that putting food in the green bin, instead of the red bin, makes nutrient-rich compost and mulch, instead of harmful greenhouse gases. We also know that loose food waste can be messy and can smell bad.

To help make separating food for composting easier, all households in Hobsons Bay are invited to take part in trialling paper bags to collect food scraps for the food and garden waste bin.

Expression of interest

We are working to begin the trail as soon as we can. However, sourcing the bags is subject to procurement and supply issues that are outside of Council’s control.

To be part of the paper bag trial, and the push to reduce waste to landfill, simply submit your expression of interest here. Interested households will receive further details, including start date information.

A gentle reminder that Council cannot accept commercially available compostable bags.
