Tree giveaways

Introducing One, Two, Tree! It only takes one person to plant a tree in their garden. We need more trees to be planted on private land to increase our tree population. Together, we can increase canopy cover in Hobsons Bay and create cooler, greener suburbs, with cleaner air and healthier communities.

Watch our series of short videos to learn more about:

Please note: the creation of the One, Two, Tree campaign has been led by Mooney Valley Council and is being jointly promoted by multiple councils in the west of Melbourne. A couple of the videos include information specifically about the Mooney Valley Shire trees, however, it is equally relevant to Hobsons Bay's trees.

Tree Giveaways

Tree giveaways are a fantastic way for the community and Council to work together to help grow our urban forest. An increased canopy is effective in reducing urban heat and mitigating the urban heat island effect. A generous urban tree canopy that cools the city is crucial to improving community health and wellbeing.

We giveaway tree seedlings regularly at council and community events. We provide a variety of backyard friendly trees and shrubs in small to medium sizes. Or you can sign up to receive a slightly more advanced tree to plant in your garden this winter.
