Thursday 1 June to Thursday 31 August

This winter as the temperature drops, we have a fun challenge to keep you entertained while staying cosy indoors.

Warm Winter Read is a Public Libraries Victoria initiative for all ages which aims to encourage readers across Victoria to create healthy reading habits while going into the running to win some bookish prizes!

There's only a few easy steps to get started and if you need any help with your Beanstack account or are after a fantastic book recommendation ask one of our friendly library staff and they will be delighted to help you! If you are on social media tag us @hobsonsbaylibraries and use #WarmWinterRead2023 to share your progress.

REGISTER FOR WARM WINTER READ

How to join the challenge

1. Sign up via Beanstack

Search for Beanstack in your app store or sign up here. Be sure to select Hobsons Bay City Council as your primary library when you create your account.

2. Log your reading

Log any reading that you do even if it's only 5 minutes, every minute counts! You will also be able to log a book you are reading, including start date, pages completed and finish date (if you would like). Books, eBooks and audiobooks all count in the competition.

3. Challenges

As you move through the challenge period, tick off 6 challenge activities. Note: these are no compulsory but are an added little extra motivation for the high achievers (and they are fun!).

This year's challenges are:

  • Create a cosy reading spot
  • Read aloud to a person, pet or plant
  • Start a new series or read the next book in a series that you have already started
  • Recommend a book you love online or in person
  • Listen to an audiobook while doing something else
  • Read a book set somewhere you'd like to travel to
