Fearon Reserve, Williamstown box lacrosse court renewal

In the 2024-25 capital works budget, Hobsons Bay City Council allocated funding to upgrade and renew the box lacrosse training court at Fearon Reserve, Williamstown.

The existing facility is home to the Williamstown Lacrosse Club and Williamstown Women's Lacrosse Club, and is pivotal to the development of the sport within Hobsons Bay. The project will include upgrades to the fencing on the training court to prevent balls from escaping the court, upgrades to the drainage infrastructure, as well as renewal of the playing surface and flood lighting.

The works will bring the court up to current standards and help support growing interest and participation in the sport.

Construction commenced on 30 January to renew facilities at Williamstown Lacrosse Club at Fearon Reserve, and is progressing well. The project includes upgrades to the fencing on the training court, improvements to drainage infrastructure, renewal of the training court playing surface and upgrades to floodlighting.

The existing pavilion and surrounding sports facilities will remain operational throughout the works, though portions of the site will be fenced off for construction. Additionally, a section of PG Sadler Reserve has been designated for temporary storage during construction, with access to this compound set up via Garden Street. Works are expected to be completed in April 2025.
