A Conversation Circle with Dear Agnes artists

Join Dr. Katie Lee and Dr. Kate Hunter from Deakin University on 28 March as they chat with some of the artists participating in the Dear Agnes contemporary public art program.

The event will be hosted in a casual setting on the grounds of Truganina Explosives Reserve. Refreshments will be provided and no bookings are required.

Dr Katie Lee (pictured left) is a visual artist based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Her practice includes sculpture, installation, performance, video and image-making. In her work, she concentrates on the affordances of materials, making visible fleeting moments, compositions and constellations that exist between objects, bodies and materials in space. Lee is interested in revealing and dissecting these un/stable relations along with conscious and subconscious associations held within materials, architecture, bodies and forms. Lee has been exhibiting nationally and internationally since 2005 and is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Arts at Deakin University.

Dr Kate Hunter (pictured right) is Senior Lecturer in Art and Performance at Deakin University, Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, and an interdisciplinary artist working across painting, performance, improvisation and sound. Her research employs innovative use of visual image, found objects, polyphonics and verbatim recordings to examine the complex interplay between hearing, listening, reading and speaking that is implicit in the ways humans communicate through language. Recent works include Lick (with Katie Lee, Luigi Vescio and Annette Wagner) for the European Cultural Centre, Venice Biennale (2024), Near Sighted (Sleepless Festival Footscray, May 2025, fortyfivedownstairs2023), and The Symphony Series with Rawcus Theatre and Rea Dennis (Theatre Works, 2024).
