Habitat Gardens

The Habitat Gardens program encourages and supports residents to use local indigenous plant species in private gardens which results in broader ecosystem connectivity with conservation reserves.

The initiative aims to establish greater genetic diversity, habitat for wildlife, food sources and stepping stones across the municipality to lower the risk of species loss. The Habitat Garden program is part of a wider Council strategy to value and protect the area’s unique biodiversity for current and future generations.

We have recently expanded our program to include Hobsons Bay's businesses and industry. If you are a Hobsons Bay business and are interested in participating, please follow the link to Habitat Gardens - Green Industries page to find more information.
