Maternal & Child Health Information, Locations & Bookings

Your hospital midwife will notify us of your baby's birth, a maternal and child health nurse will then contact you by phone and offer you a home visit as part of the program. Other visits are then generally conducted at your local MCH Centre. These include visits to check your child's growth and development at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 4 months, 8 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, and 3.5 years.

*Additional centre or home visits are offered to families as required.

What Services are Provided?

The service provides a wide range of information, advice and support including:

  • breastfeeding and formula feeding information and support
  • nutrition through all stages
  • child and health development
  • sleep and settling difficulties
  • childhood illness, safety and injury prevention
  • immunisation
  • adjusting to parenthood
  • parent groups

*Interpreters are provided to non-english speaking families.

Enhanced Maternal & Child Health

This is an extension of our MCH service, providing a more focused and intensive level of support for families who may experience early parenting difficulties.

Maternal & Child Health Bookings

Do not attend a face-to-face appointment if you or your child/children are unwell. 

For all appointments or cancellations please call our central booking line on 9932 1300 from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.
You can request an appointment by using our online booking form.

Telehealth appointments are available if required.  

Saturday morning appointments are also available.

Drop-in sessions (closed school holidays and public holidays). No appointment required:

    - Newport Gardens every Tuesday 1.30pm - 3pm

    - Powlett Street first Wednesday of the month 1.30pm - 3pm
