International Day of People with Disability

Accessible beaches International Day of People with Disability is observed across the world each year on 3 December. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. It also provides an opportunity to continue building an inclusive and diverse community in Hobsons Bay.

This year, we’re proud to support the following free services and events to celebrate International Day of People with a Disability:

Accessible Beaches

Our accessible beaches program means everyone can have fun in the water. Residents and visitors can hire a beach wheelchair or walking frame for free during lifesaving club patrol hours (12pm to 5pm on weekends and public holidays). Bookings are essential and can be made here.

The 2023-24 season ran from 2 December 2023 to the end of March 2024. The accessible beaches program has been running since 2015 with generous support from the Altona Life Saving Club, Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club, and local traders.
