Airtime
Airtime is a public art project that highlights the creative talents of young people in Hobsons Bay.
Artworks are reproduced and printed on large flags and exhibited for a three-month period on the flag poles at Altona Meadows Skate Park.
Since its inception, Airtime has showcased hundreds of works by young artists from the west, and provides a creative experience for those of us who live or travel through the area.
Expressions of interest are accepted annually, around April each year via the Creative Opportunities page. Subscribe to the Creative City e-newsletter for updates on application rounds and other opportunities, news and events in Hobsons Bay.

Airtime Rotation #43 'DREAM: Back into the womb' at Airtime
June to August 2025
In this new exhibition, artist Naomi Thorpe aims to depict a scenario in which your subconscious reveals the liminal, ambiguous and uncertain space that is simultaneously the dreamworld and the unknown and uncharted waters of pre-birth and life. Teeming with possibility and bound by nothing, you look back into your own eyes.

"When we are asleep, we are at rest. We close our eyes and lay motionless, surrounded by warmth, safe and sound. I often wonder if when I am in that state, am I in a similar situation to my unborn self, not ready to take on the world, present but not present, and peacefully existing in my mother’s womb? When we dream, it’s the only place where we are truly existing without a physical body. Unable to control which direction we go in; we traverse the plains of our subconscious. Dreaming, our mind flows endlessly and is transported to another world."
About the artist:
Naomi Thorpe is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and designer who creates reflective, contemplative work. Naomi explores thoughts, feelings, imagination, nature, and existence, often following the mind’s wanderings—both light and dark. Her practice taps into a childlike imagination, revealing hidden, unnoticed worlds and deepening our connection to the world around us.
