Hobsons Bay City Council - Advocacy

The City of Hobsons Bay faces the unique challenges of balancing urban and coastal areas, growth, social disadvantage, infrastructure demands, and lack of services. Local government have limited legislative ability to create substantial or sustainable change in these areas on their own, therefore working in partnerships across the municipality and the region is fundamental; advocating, informing and partnering with national, state, regional and local sectors to meet the needs of our community.

Through the development of the Community Health and Wellbeing Plan and Council Plan 2013-2017(PDF, 4MB), and consultations with community and stakeholders, a number of key priorities have been identified which are recognised as having particular strategic importance for the future of Hobsons Bay. These priorities now make up Council’s Advocacy Strategy 2014(PDF, 5MB).

Council is committed to advocating on behalf of our community. To keep up to date on Council's Advocacy Submissions visit the current Council Submissions page.
