Upcycle in Style - Fix your knits and woollens in Newport

FixKnits

Do you have moth holes in your favourite wool scarf? Or worn out elbows on your cozy knit jumper? In this workshop you'll learn to mend and embellish your pre-loved woolly pieces in a fun and creative environment.

Mending is a great life skill that saves you money, and reduces your environmental footprint.

What will we cover

  • How to colour match wool to repair as invisibly as possible
  • How to add colour to your woollens for a visible repair
  • Mending basics
  • How to prepare your woollens for repair
  • Different types of darning
  • The art of needle felting.

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced menders.

What to bring

  • Your woollens that have stains, rips or holes that need repairing
  • Fabric, thread or embellishments you may like to add
  • And most importantly, bring your imagination and enthusiasm!

About Upcycle in Style
This workshop is presented by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of Upcycle in Style, a project funded through the Pitch Your Project initiative.

As part of this project, Council is running a series of free workshops to encourage residents to repair their clothing and household items rather than throwing them out. Other workshops are available via Council's Eventbrite Page.
