Stop 1: Glassworks Mural

Glassworks Mural

Located on Simcock Avenue, this stunning artwork was created on the site of the old Melbourne Glass Bottle Works in Spotswood. This factory appeared in the first Mad Max film as does the Pump House just around the corner.

The artwork, created by Chuck and Julia from Mayfield Palace, is not only beautiful and colourful but it tells the tale of the life of glass. The mural spans the length of the building and offers a fun location to shoot in an otherwise industrial area.

The popular Grazeland is just around the corner for amazing food and entertainment or head up Hudsons road in the search for more murals and an array of bakeries and restaurants that make Spotswood a foodie haven.

Murals in Newport

Unfortunately, the Glassworks Mural has been graffitied since this photo was taken.  If you are looking for other amazing murals to photograph, pay a visit to nearby Hall Street, Newport.

Newport has a lovely mix of nature, busy cafes, some industrial landscape and this gorgeous collection of murals.  The mural with artwork of local birdlife was created by artist Jimmy Dvante.

These works are great for colourful portraits and lovers of flora and fauna artwork.  Pop into Pango or Heart of Hall for a fantastic meal.
