Food and Garden Organics Drive-through Drop-off Events

This summer, Council is trialling free drive-through drop-off events to recycle food and garden organics.

Drive-through drop-off days help households that have larger amounts of organic materials than can fit in their green bin, or concerns about disposing of food waste with the recent change to fortnightly collections.

All Hobsons Bay residents can access the service. Residents will need to show their driver’s licence as proof of residency and check-in via the Services Victoria app. Proof of vaccination is a condition of entry.

Accepted materials

Household quantities of:

  • garden waste, under 1.5m long, bundled and/or contained in a returnable box or hopper
  • food scraps, which can be carried in a caddy or bucket or wrapped in a couple of sheets of newspaper or paper towel to transport

The drop-off station is unable to accept mixed recycling, general rubbish, hard waste or electronic waste.
