Playground works under way

Several playgrounds across Hobsons Bay will undergo urgent repair and replacement works following recent inspections. 

An unexpected number of playgrounds were identified as being in poorer condition than anticipated during recent inspections.  

To address these issues, we’ll be doing works, including:  

• making temporary safety improvements

• removing or restricting access to individual items that are no longer safe to use

• repairing selected equipment

• planning future replacements or upgrades as part of existing programs and budgets. 

Playgrounds affected are:  

• Burgoyne Reserve, Williamstown 

• Sadler Reserve, Williamstown 

• Logan Reserve, Altona 

• Cherry Lake, Altona 

• Carinza Avenue Reserve, Altona Meadows 

• Hatt Reserve, Williamstown 

• Langshaws Reserve, Altona North 

• Brooklyn Reserve, Brooklyn 

• Ailsa Reserve, Altona Meadows 

The playgrounds listed, apart from Burgoyne Reserve, are not considered urgent. At Burgoyne Reserve, we have removed the unsafe playground and are in the process of replacing this with like-for-like play equipment to keep users safe.  

In most cases, only specific items may be removed or restricted.
