Baby-sleeping

A new baby sleep and settling program, delivered by Council’s Maternal and Child Health Nurses will soon be available to parents in Hobsons Bay.

The free, 90-minute, small group sessions will be held in person and will provide age appropriate information on infant and early childhood positive sleep patterns, as well as tips and strategies for settling your baby or toddler.

The new program will become part of Council’s Maternal and Child Health offering and will be included in all New Parents group sessions.

Parents who don’t currently attend a New Parents group can register to attend an age appropriate session for either zero to six months, six to 12 months, or 18 months to three years at www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/sleepsettling or by emailing sleepsettling@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au

The first session will commence on Friday 23 April for babies who are six to 12 months. For more information about Council’s Maternal and Child Health service, please visit www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/MCH

Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay Cr Jonathon Marsden:

“We know from our Maternal and Child Health Nurses that sleep and settling concerns are common issues affecting families.

“Our friendly and knowledgeable nurses have undertaken extra training to help local families sleep better.

“Every baby is unique and something that is a concern for one family may not be an issue for another. The new program provides a suite of safe, evidence-based options that allow parents and caregivers to make informed choices to suit their individual preferences, beliefs, parenting styles and ideologies.”
