A Fair Hobsons Bay for All

Council’s commitment to fairness and equity has been strengthened with the adoption of A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2024-28, the second edition of our integrated social policy framework. This policy builds on the achievements of the previous edition and will serve as a foundation document to promote ‘a fair go’ in Hobsons Bay.

A Fair Hobsons Bay for All 2024-28 continues to acknowledge priority populations who experience social and economic disadvantage, more consistently and to a higher degree than the broader population. Priority populations include:

  • children (0-11 years)
  • young people (12-25 years)
  • older people (60 years and over)
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • First Nations people
  • people with a disability and carers
  • women and girls
  • lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, asexual (LGBTIQA+) and gender diverse communities
  • people in low income households

This policy is guided by our vision for a fair Hobsons Bay for all, built on inclusion and belonging, where everyone can thrive, contribute, feel safe and valued. This vision is underpinned by five clear themes:

  1. Accessible and connected neighbourhoods
  2. Inclusive and supportive communities
  3. Learning and economic opportunities
  4. Enjoying and adapting to nature
  5. A fair Council for all

Implementation will occur through annual action plans, commencing with the 2023-24 Action Plan. Reporting will also continue to be completed via Council’s Annual Report.
