Council Reporting
Due to Covid restrictions on the construction industry, the works to the Altona Surf Life Saving Tower are not yet completed. Weekend patrolling will take place from both the beachfront and the club rooms in the meantime. The flags will be in place so please ensure you swim between them. Patrolling is expected to resume from the tower from the weekend commencing 20 November 2021.
The Altona Surf Life Saving Tower will be upgraded to increase the existing first aid room’s capacity and improve storage for lifesaving vehicles in winter 2021.
As part of these works, Council will be removing existing Exeloo that is in the tower. The nearest public toilets are in Weaver Reserve, approximately 20 metres across the road. During the works there will be temporary fencing placed around the tower however, there will still be pedestrian access.
Works have commenced at Altona Surf Life Saving Tower. These works include increasing the existing first aid room's capacity and improve storage for livesaving vehicles. During construction there is pedestrian access on the beach front side of The Esplanade.
