Upcycle in Style - Creative Mending Workshop in Newport

What’s it all about?

Do you have a favourite piece of clothing that needs some love? In this workshop, you'll learn practical ways to make your clothes last longer, plus turn them into unique, wearable works of art with beautiful darning, stitching and/or patching to your clothes.

The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced stitchers who have completed previous Upcycle in Style workshops.

Stitching is a great life skill that can save you money, save your clothes and reduce your impact on the environment!

What will we cover?

You will learn the basics of sewing, along with different hand-stitching styles and ways to apply patches. You will then use these techniques to get creative with repairs, applying stitching and patching your clothes.

What to bring:

• Your clothes, woolens and/or household textiles that have stains, rips or holes that need repairing.

• Any special fabric, thread or embellishments you may want to add into your design.

• Most importantly, bring your imagination and enthusiasm!

What’s provided:

• Stitching and sewing tools
• A selection of fabric for patching
• Darning tools and a range of wool yarn
• Needle felting tools and wool fibre
