Recollection: Western Region environment as a creative playground

Recollection: Western region environment as a creative playground is a group exhibition by artists from Melbourne’s west who participated in the 2023 Wunder Gym creative development program.

The 23 exhibiting artists used our local environment and community as their playground. Artists transformed a subject or raw material to build upon its personal and cultural meaning to heighten the viewers' understanding of that subject.

Mentored by renowned artist Elvis Richardson the artists created artworks that are more inclusive, optimistic and empathetic to our world and respond to our environment.

Artists included:

Frances Loriente, Naomi Thorpe, Jonabelle Cogan, Amal Laala, Rhys Delinac, Zoe Jones, Clive Gono, Jasmine Gallardo, Matthew Simpson, Audrey Buttigieg Cardona, Rhys Cousins, Mita Chowdhury, David Castaneda, Talitha Fraser, Meredith Jones, Mei Mei Hodgkinson, Zoe Sydney, Rachel Morley, Joseph Ferlazzo, Lan Pagliaro, Jennifer Voudiotis, Shona Baker, Fatima Measham.

This exhibition is an extension of the Recollection exhibition held as part of the 2023 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Join us for a Q & A with mentoring artist Elvis Richardson and curator Annette Wagner on Saturday 18 November, 2pm to 3pm.
