We are a local community of men and women committed to walking together, socialising together (post walk coffee and chat) and enjoying together, the natural beauty and birdlife that is to be found throughout Hobsons Bay.
We walk for 60 minutes on Wednesdays from Altona Meadows and on Fridays from Newport Lake enjoying the physical and psychological benefits of walking together in clean, fresh air rain, hail or shine, at our own pace and according to our individual abilities.
Ian Watson, a local Hobsons Bay resident, established the walking group two years ago under the Heart Foundation's umbrella. Ian is an exemplary, caring and considerate leader who, in 2021, was awarded the Heart Foundation's Golden Shoe Award for Courage and Commitment.
Our walking group is a welcoming, friendly and supportive group of enthusiastic walkers, who have, throughout the challenging Covid months, demonstrated their commitment to walking and their loyalty to the group, by continuing to walk either singly or in pairs.
