Paisley Challis Wetland

Access is from the parking area at the corner of Kororoit Creek Road and Maddox Road or the southern end of Maddox Road. A crushed-rock walking path at the end of Maddox Road guides walkers around a loop allowing access to a bird hide and vistas to Port Phillip Bay. The large Moonah trees found in this location stand impressively upright in the exposed conditions, giving respite to visitors during windy-chilly conditions. Around this loop trail you will observe indigenous vegetation including saltmarsh, coastal saltbush, tangled lignum, native grasses and small-leafed clematis climbers.

Bird watchers have the opportunity in observing seabirds from the bird hide including the iconic Australian pelican. If you follow the Bay West share trail to the north of the reserve, you will see further expanses of coastal saltmarsh, mangroves, grasslands and native shrubs. Please stay on the path in this reserve, the sensitive saltmarsh and mangrove communities suffer greatly when trampled.
