Mayor's Message

Join the Hobsons Bay celebrations of Cultural Diversity and Harmony Day in March 2021

Sunday 21 to 28 March 2021 - Cultural Diversity Week

Sunday 21 March 2021 – Harmony Day

Theme: Multiculturalism 2030: what does it mean, what will it look like and how will we get there?

Hobsons Bay City Council is proud of its diverse community and we look forward to celebrating it during Cultural Diversity Week 2021 and on Harmony Day, with a program of fun and engaging activities across the city.

Hobsons Bay is home to iconic cultural architecture, worldly flavours, and spiritual adventures. Explore all of this and more right here in our local community. The Hobsons Bay community comes from 140 different countries, speaking over 100 different languages and celebrating more than 90 different faiths.  From the First Nations peoples to successive waves of migrants, our community is continually changing. Let’s celebrate this diversity together in harmony.

So, come out and meet your neighbours, share in culture, celebrate our many languages and learn about each other’s faiths.

Mayor Jonathon Marsden

I am proud that our local community centres and neighbourhood houses, local community groups and Council are contributing to such a wonderful program. I look forward to celebrating Cultural Diversity Week and Harmony Day here in Hobsons Bay.

Councillor Jonathon Marsden
