Hobsons Bay Community Has Heart
Hobsons Bay Community Has Heart is a community-led initiative to support community members in need. It is part of a wider Hobsons Bay Has Heart program that shares stories of positivity, resilience, goodwill and kindness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, many community members are feeling disconnected, isolated and lonely, or in need of help, at different times. There are also many other community members and organisations who are ready to help. Hobsons Bay Community Has Heart is here to connect these groups.
We know that requesting support can often make us feel vulnerable at times. It can be hard to know where to go and who to ask for help. COVID-19 has impacted us all in different ways and it’s OK to not be OK. But asking for help is not a weakness.
Hobsons Bay Community Has Heart’s Community Connector program, links people with local service providers and networks that can help them. Trained Council staff help connect community members with services that supply a wide range of services – for example, food hampers and pet food, medications and nappies, access to cleaning supplies and masks, social activities, employment and training information, COVID-19 CALD support, counselling, mental health and domestic violence support services and aged care, family and library services.
The program is also here for volunteers and people who would like to help. Council staff will help to connect people who would like to help with services that need help. This could be people with some spare time who would like to help with phone calls and volunteering services, or donate goods or funds to a local charity to help people in need, or for businesses who have something to offer.
If you are looking for support, or you would like to help, we would love to hear from you.
