Renewing your business registration

  • the renewal of registration for the Food Act 1984 is due annually on 30 September
  • the renewal of registration for the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 is due annually on 31 December

Operating a food or public health business without a valid registration is an offence under the Food Act 1984 or Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.

Businesses including food, hair, beauty and skin penetration premises are now able to renew and pay their annual renewal of registration online using the eHealth portal.

An email and/or text will notify you when the portal will be opened for renewal of registration. If you have not already done so, please provide the Public Health Unit with your preferred/current business email address.

The eHealth portal will allow you to change contact detail information and inform us of any modification to your business activities.

Changes to the proprietor details or trading name cannot to be made on the portal. You will need to contact the Public Health Unit, as a transfer of registration may apply.

Existing premises

  • if you have used the eHealth portal previously and your email address has remained the same you can continue to use the same password to login
  • if you have forgotten the password, click on 'Reset your Password', and a new temporary password will be emailed to you
  • if your email address has changed, let us know and we’ll arrange for your new login details to be sent to you

New or transferred premises

  • an email will be sent to you with the portal link and a temporary password
  • if you have not received this email at least one month prior to the due date of renewal, please check your junk folder or contact the Public Health Unit

Payment options

Payment options on the portal will include:

  • SecurePay - secure credit card payment
  • Over the counter - an invoice will be emailed to allow payment to be made at a later date through BPay, BillPay, Australia Post or via phone

One of these options need to be selected so that the renewal application process gets completed.
