Washing Machine and Dishwasher Rebates Available Now
The Victorian Government is encouraging households to go green on their whitegoods. If you purchase a selected energy and water efficient washing machine or dishwasher from a participating retailer by 28th June 2009, you could be eligible for a $100 rebate.

Kororoit Creek Trail Map Brochure
Kororoit Creek is a major waterway in Melbourne’s north-west region, and is approximately 80km in length.  A new trail map brochure is being developed to help residents enjoy this beautiful natural space, making it easier to access the creek and understand its important attractions, as it meanders from its rural upper reaches right down to Hobsons Bay.

Travel Smart logoLaverton Green Travel Plans Take Shape
The Council is continuing to work closely with the Laverton P-12 College and the Laverton Civic Complex on the Linking Laverton project. The TravelSmart component of this project includes the development of Green Travel Plans, which encourage everyone to leave the car at home and choose healthy and sustainable travel modes, including walking, cycling and using public transport.

Sustainable Cities Awards and Clean Beach Challenge

Hobsons Bay a Winner!
Each year, the Council enters Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria’s Sustainable Cities Awards and Clean Beach Challenge. A range of projects and initiatives that benefit the local environment were entered into the 2009 awards.

The Council won three awards and was a finalist in seven categories. The Council is also the Overall Sustainable Cities Winner 2009 and will now go on to represent Victoria in the National Australian Sustainable Cities Awards later this year.

Membership registrations have now closed and the group is accepting expressions of interest for a waiting list.
