Healthy and Sustainable Gardens Program
Residents are invited to take part in the Metropolitan Waste Management Group’s (MWMG) Healthy Sustainable Gardens Program which promotes the sale of recycled mulch and compost collected from residents’ green waste bins, from Saturday, 14th February to Monday, 13th April.

Scouts that volunteered on Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day 2009 A Success
The Council would like to thank all the volunteers, including our staff members and councillors, who supported Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 1st March. This year a record 17 sites were registered and together we collected over 66 cubic metres of litter, making our environment a much nicer place to live and visit.

As part of the Linking Laverton project, Laverton P-12 College and the Laverton Community Hub are taking part in TravelSmart programs which aim to encourage everyone to leave the car at home and choose healthy and sustainable travel modes, including walking, cycling and using public transport.

The Council will be hosting two free green plumbers workshops on 22nd and 23rd April. Based on the internationally-acclaimed MPMSAA GreenPlumbers initiative, the workshops are designed to train plumbers in Melbourne's west the principles of water efficient technology.
