Hobsons Bay City Council is proud to present a special Summer Sounds Concert to raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

The Newport Folk and Fiddle Club will get the toe tapping started from 6.15pm. Audience participation is always encouraged as anyone who has attended the annual Newport Lakes bush dance or the Newport Folk Festival will confirm.

The members of the Newport Folk and Fiddle Club are involved in staging a number of community events that contribute to, and enrich, the cultural life of people who are part of our community. The Newport Folk and Fiddle Club will take the stage in a celebration of traditional music.

Local favourites the Howard Cairns Jazz Trio are next on the bill. A classy addition to any concert, Howard's mix of jazz, swing and rhythm and blues always proves popular whether you love the classics or just want to experience the mood.

Rounding off the evening, are singer/songwriter Sherry Rich and her award winning multi-instrumentalist partner Rick Plant. They have performed as a duo throughout Europe and the US and have recently returned to Australia.

Sherry’s songs have topped the Indie charts in Australia, been sung by folks from Texas to Finland and aired on prime time TV dramas in the US; while Rick has played with many big names in the Americana music scene…Buddy Miller, Emmylou Harris and the Pure Prairie League to name a few.

This special Summer Sounds concert is an opportunity for the Hobsons Bay community to come together to support their fellow Victorians who have been affected by the recent bushfires.

Please invite your family and friends, plan a picnic dinner, and bring a rug or deckchair. You will have the opportunity to make donations on the night with funds going to the Victorian Bushfire Fund.
