From his days fronting Weddings Parties Anything to picking up the Hall of Fame Award at this year’s Port Fairy folk festival, Mick Thomas continues to to demonstrate his skill in writing and performing.
Fresh from their Back to the Future tour, Mick Thomas and the Sure Things will be at Commonwealth Reserve playing songs from their forthcoming CD as well as a liberal dose of their back catalogue before and after 1998.

Williamstown Festival Contemporary Art Prize attracts entries from all over Australia each year.
Artists are shortlisted to exhibit in this nationally renowned award from a judging panel consisting of some of Australia's leading art professionals. The exhibition showcases excellence in the visual arts to a local and broader audience.

Williamstown Literary Festival is in its sixth year and bigger and better than ever. The festival is a popular local cultural event focusing on literature, drama and writing which presents established and emerging writers and literary figures.
The festival is run by a volunteer community organisation and is supported by Victoria University, Hobsons Bay City Council and the Port of Melbourne Corporation.

As part of State Library Victoria’s Summer Read program, Hobsons Bay Libraries present a talk by Steven Carroll, winner of Australia’s most prestigious literary award, the 2008 Miles Franklin Prize for his book The Time We Have Taken.
Based in the 1970s, his book sets the scene for a picnic on the lawns of the Mechanics Institute.

Sunset After Sunrise Before Sunset by Paul White, is an inititiave of Hobsons Bay City Council as part of the 'Conversations' billboard project.
"The car is symbolic of everyday life, and particularly of life in the suburbs. The Holden is often referred to as 'Australia's own', and the HQ series was one of the highest selling ever with almost half a million sold during it's run from 1971-1974.

The Laverton Arts and Culture Forum has been set up to harness the energy around arts and cultural activities in Laverton, bringing together skills and creative juices to strengthen the existing programs and bring together a new vision for the Laverton community.
The members of the forum have developed an exciting Arts and Culture Plan for Laverton which covers youth arts, community arts, performing arts, multicultural arts and public art. The aim is to establish Laverton as a real creative hub in the west of Hobsons Bay. More...

The Altona Homestead Museum contains objects and images specific to the Altona area as well as many rooms arranged to depict the style of living in the 1920s and 1930s. The courtyard contains an eclectic mix of farm implements, objects relating to recreational and outdoor activities as well as household activities from years ago.
The Altona Laverton Historical Society is based at the Homestead and is currently cataloguing all objects and archives held there. One benefit from this will be the knowledge of exactly what archives are held which can then be made available to the public for research purposes. More...

Williamstown Historical Society has been successful in securing funds through the Department of Planning in the latest round of Heritage Victoria grants.
The society will receive $3,000 for conservation work to be conducted on one of the most important collection items in the museum – The World War I Quilt. The quilt was donated to the society in 1971 by Mrs Hansen who had made it in memory of her son, Captain Hansen, who was killed in World War I. More...
