The 2009 program features the legendary Black Sorrows, Joe Camilleri spent his formative years in Altona, so a truly local connection there.

The Mercurials

The Mecurials

Sunday, 25th January, Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown at 3pm.

The Mercurials continue their Summer Sounds Australia Day weekend tradition, by headlining the concert at Commonwealth Reserve on Sunday, 25th January.

The group comprises ARIA award winning guitarist Andrew Pendlebury, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Mark Ferrie (seen each week on SBS as part of the RockWiz house band) and Adi Sappir, an adventurous cellist and vocalist. Their live repertoire includes original material as well as interpretations of tunes by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Irving Berlin, Kraftwerk, and Neil Young.

Cariño Son

Sunday, 1st February, outdoors at the Laverton Community Centre at 3pm.

Cariño Son make their first Summer Sounds appearance on Sunday, 1st February outside at the Laverton Community Centre. 

Cariño Son is an eight-piece combo playing traditional Cuban music: passionate, vibrant and irresistible. Reminiscent of the Buena Vista Social Club, you will be transported to the bars and nightclubs of Havana, so get ready for the dance floor and try out your Latin moves!

Mick Thomas and The Sure Thing

Sunday, 8th February, Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown at 3pm.

From his days fronting Weddings Parties Anything to picking up the Hall of Fame Award at this year’s Port Fairy folk festival, Mick Thomas continues to to demonstrate his skill in writing and performing.

Fresh from their Back to the Future tour, Mick Thomas and the Sure Things will be at Commonwealth Reserve playing songs from their forthcoming CD as well as a liberal dose of their back catalogue before and after 1998.
