Heritage Study

The Hobsons Bay Heritage Study 2006 identifies heritage places and precincts within Hobsons Bay. Heritage places add character, appeal and interest to the city. They are irreplaceable and precious, providing a window to the past and the very origins of our communities.

The Study contains detailed information about the themes that have shaped the municipality of Hobsons Bay over the last 165 years and about the individual heritage areas and buildings.

The Study also provides the strategic basis for the application of statutory controls to protect, conserve and manage the city's heritage assets. The key statutory controls in the Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme are the heritage overlay, heritage policies and heritage guidelines.
