Amendment C99 – Site Specific Controls at the Former Nugget Factory Williamstown
What does Amendment C99 do?
Amendment C99 to the Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme proposes to:
- amend the schedule to Clause 43.01: Heritage Overlay to include Heritage Overlay – Schedule 317: The Former Nugget Factory (HO317)
- amend Planning Scheme Map 19HO to apply HO317
- consequently amend the citation to Heritage Overlay – Schedule 8: Government Survey Heritage Precinct citation to list the Former Nugget Factory as contributory
- amend Clauses 21.06, 21.10 and 22.01 to remove reference to the Hobsons Bay Heritage Study Amended 2010 and replace it with Hobsons Bay Heritage Study Amended 2014
The Former Nugget Factory is located at 16 to 20 Kanowna Street, Williamstown being land at lot 3 on title plan 852861D. Amongst other things, the industrial building was used for the manufacture of shoe nugget within the industrial precinct of Williamstown.
The amendment was on exhibition from 30 January to 14 March 2014 with one submission received.
At its ordinary Council meeting of 23 September 2014, Council resolved to abandon amendment C99 to the Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme. This was in response to a recent Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal decision (available at this link)
What happens next?
The Council has written to the Minister for Planning, Planning Panels Victoria, the submitter, stakeholders and interested parties advising of its decision to abandon Amendment C99.
