Garbage Service Guide

What goes in my garbage bin? 

 Ensure all garbage is wrapped.

Rubbish, ceramics, nappies (empty and wrapped), food scraps, etc. Ice cream, margarine and yoghurt containers.

Other plastics (eg. plastic bags). Window glass, mirrors, Pyrex and light globes (wrapped).

 

 What not to put in the garbage bin

  • NO garden waste
  • NO recyclables
  • NO hot ashes
  • NO oil
  • NO paint
  • NO chemicals or solvents
  • NO liquids
  • NO syringes
  • NO unwrapped vacuum dust, ashes, sawdust or other like substance
  • NO medical waste
  • NO excess packaging, plastic or polystyrene
  • NO fluorescent tubes
  • NO timber or building materials (bricks, steel, sand or concrete)
  • NO sewage or other matter which could cause injury or danger to any person
  • No solid, liquid or other material likely to damage to the receptacle or waste collection vehicle

 

Missed your collection?

If you have done everything you think you should have and your garbage bin has not been collected contact Council on 9932 1000

 

Lost, damaged and stolen garbage bins 

The Council will replace or repair your garbage bin if it has undergone normal wear and tear, or if it is stolen. A statutory declaration may be required.

To report a lost, stolen or damaged garbage bin, please contact the Council on 9932 1000.

 

Additional garbage waste collection services 

You can order an additional garbage bin at a cost of $154.16 per financial year.

Costs are based on collection and disposal fees, bin provision and maintenance costs, and administration. Service fees are included within the rates notice, subject to annual budgetary reviews and calculated on a pro rata basis.

If you move or no longer require the additional waste collection service, please contact the Council, so the wheelie bin/s can be removed from your property, the Council's records updated and the fee removed from your rates notice.

If you wish to take advantage of this offer or discontinue an existing service, please contact the Council on
9932 1000 or complete the Additional Waste Service form.The wheelie bin will be delivered within five working days.
