Reconciliation cover art competition

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members* of Hobsons Bay are invited to submit their artwork for an art prize worth $500. The winning artwork will also be feature on the cover of Hobson Bay Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan (details below).

Finalist pieces will also be in the running to be used in other Council collateral and artists will be paid in full and credited for use of these pieces if selected.

Submissions can be of your new or existing works and should reflect Hobsons Bay and a vision for or journey to Reconciliation.

Submissions must be received on or before Monday 17 July.

Submissions can be in any medium including:

  • Paint
  • Pencil
  • Clay
  • Sculpture
  • Weaving
  • Anything!

Please send a photograph of your submissions by Monday 17 July to Please note, we cannot accept original artworks as part of the submission process. The usage of the winning work will be in vertical format.

Please include:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Title of piece
  • A statement about your work, connection to place and vision/journey with regards to Reconciliation.

 If you are under 18 years of age, please provide the following details of your legal guardian:

  • Full name
  • Address

*Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander persons who live, work, gather or feel a sense of connection to the municipality.

Usage: This a non-acquisitive art prize. By submitting your work for inclusion in this art prize, you confirm that you have full rights to assign the copyright within the work and agree to a non-exclusive license for use of the winning artwork on the cover of the Hobsons Bay City Council’s Reconciliation Plan (RAP) and in the promotion of the RAP and Reconciliation.
