New electoral structure for Hobsons Bay City Council
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) prepared a new electoral structure for Hobsons Bay City Council. The VEC recommended that the Council be divided into three wards represented by seven councillors. One ward will have three councillors and two wards will have two councillors.
The wards are: Wetlands Ward, Cherry Lake Ward and Strand Ward.
The VEC recommended the changes after conducting a review that included a public information session, two public submission processes and a public hearing. Hobsons Bay City Council’s demographics and growth potential were also considered in the VEC review.
The VEC report was approved by the Minister for Local Government, The Hon Jeanette Powell and was in place for the Hobsons Bay City Council general election, which took place on Saturday, 27th October 2012.
