Salary packaging & superannuation
Salary packaging - novated leases, gym membership, computers (conditions apply).
Superannuation - Council contributes 9.5% of the ordinary salary to an employee nominated superannuation fund. Employee contributions are optional.
Training & development
One hundred per cent fee reimbursement - for approved qualifications and study leave provisions.
Training and professional development - substantial funding is committed to organisational training. Training and development needs are discussed at annual appraisals.
Quality and continuous improvement - continuous improvement to all services and employee duties.
Annual leave - four weeks annual leave for permanent employees. Most employees also receive a 17.5 per cent annual leave loading.
Parental leave - various entitlements for prenatal appointments, maternity leave, paternity leave and adoption leave. After 12 months working at Council female employees are entitled to 17 weeks paid maternity leave and non birthing partners four weeks paid paternity leave.
Compassionate leave - up to three days (four days for child care workers) if there is a death in the family. Consideration will also be given to special circumstances e.g. death in extended families.
Carer's leave - available through your sick leave credits to care for an immediate family member who is ill or requires assistance.
Rostered day off (RDO) - full-time, permanent employees (not contract positions) are entitled to an RDO once every four weeks based on hours worked. Depot based employees are entitled to a nine day fortnight.
Sick leave - a total of 12 days sick leave for the first 12 months dependant on the employment status. Additional provisions apply for Childcare Educators and Maternal and Child Health Nurses.
Family friendly provisions - flexible working arrangements (where practical) to support family responsibilities.
Social club - fun social events at discounted prices for social club members.
Phased retirement - enabling mature employees flexibility regarding their retirement.
Health & wellbeing
Employee assistance program (EAP) - up to four free counselling sessions, offering temporary assistance during personal difficulties such as family, work, personal or medical problems.
Health and wellbeing program - a range of activities and workshops such as yoga, pilates and circuit.
Occupational health and safety - a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
Smoke free - smoking is not allowed in Council buildings and in Council vehicles.
Certified agreement - terms and conditions of employment are covered by a certified agreement.
