Hobsons Bay Open Space Strategy 2013-2026
Parks, coastal reserves, waterways, plazas, botanic gardens and sporting reserves - it’s all open space! Hobsons Bay has a diverse open space network that is highly valued by the community.
Hobsons Bay City Council has commenced the development of an Open Space Strategy for the period 2013-2026 that will help ensure;
- open space is designed and managed to better meet the needs of our diverse and growing community;
- we have enough open space in the right places;
- the network can meet the challenges and impacts of climate change; and
- significant conservation areas and biodiversity values are strengthened and protected.
Visit this page for regular updates on the development of the strategy and key findings from the community consultation period.

What's happening now
During September, October and November a community survey ‘How can we improve your parks?’ was distributed across Hobsons Bay. We received more than 1000 responses from residents, workers and visitors. Thank you if you responded to this important survey.
Results are now being collated and analysed. A report on the findings of the survey will be available here in the coming weeks.
Results from the survey will help to identify what people value about our open spaces and what can be improved to help us best meet the needs of the community over the coming 12 years.
We will also be conducting detailed investigations of our open spaces in the coming months. Results from the investigations and the community consultation will inform recommendations the Draft Strategy.
