In-home support aims to assist eligible residents to remain active in their own community. It provides practical support through encouragement and when required assistance to maintain and develop skills for independent living.
The type of services provided may include:
- domestic assistance;
- preparing meals;
- transport to local medical appointments;
- personal support such as showering, sponge washing and dressing;
- respite including in-home and access to the community; and
- prompting of medication.
This service provides minor household repairs that do not require the skills of a qualified trades person such as a licensed electrician or plumber. The service does not undertake tasks which are considered cosmetic repairs. Safety issues are a priority and tasks can include:
- changing light bulbs;
- replacing tap washers; and
- installing smoke alarms.
Following an assessment by an Occupational Therapist minor modifications or renovations can be made to your home. Items that can be installed include:
- hand rails;
- ramps and steps; and
- hand held showers or special taps.
