Hobsons Bay City Council - Food services

Food services

Food services

Food services are available to older people and people with disabilities and their carers, who have been assessed as nutritionally at risk and are unable to prepare regular meals.

Home delivered meals

You can choose a three course meal from our menu. The meals are delivered between Monday to Friday by a volunteer.

People who have special food requirements, including meals for specific medical conditions, special diets and culturally specific requirements, can be catered for.

Hobsons Bay City Council recently joined with 19 other councils to build a regional food kitchen in Altona. The kitchen is operated by a not-for-profit company known as Community Chef. This is a state of the art regional meals kitchen that aims to provide high quality nutritious meals. For more information visit the Community Chef website.

Cafe meals

The Cafe Meals program is in place to ensure eligible people have access to affordable, nutritious meals in a social setting, and there are a number of participating cafes in Hobsons Bay.

Senior citizens centre meals

Senior citizens centre meals are provided to residents over 55 at Altona Senior Citizens Centre and Newport Senior Citizens Centre. For more information and when the meals are available contact the centres directly.

Meal preparation

You can receive help with preparing a nutritious meal in your own home.
