Women’s Community Leadership in Altona North and Brooklyn

Are you interested in community leadership?

Are you passionate about connection and community wellbeing in Altona North and Brooklyn? Be a part of Hobsons Bay’s Cultivate Leadership Program. 

Council is seeking expressions of interest from women who live, work or play in Altona North and Brooklyn, interested in building their capacity as local community leaders. This program is inclusive of trans and gender diverse women. 

Expressions of interest (EOI) close 6 November 2017, 5pm.

This FREE program involves and requires commitment to: 

  • an orientation and enrolment session on Thursday 30 November 2017 from 6pm to 8pm
  • three hour workshops each Monday night 6pm to 9pm from 12 February to 28 May 2018 (no sessions held during school holidays or on public holidays)
  • Graduation ceremony to be held on Monday 28 May 2018
  • four further weeks to develop and implement a community project/initiative
  • support to apply for community grants to implement project/initiative
  • eight units of the nationally accredited Certificate III of Community Services (CH32015) (remaining four can be attained at own cost)
  • childcare available and light catering provided 

Whether you are young, old or somewhere in-between, in places like school, work, home, in the community or online, we are always learning. To support your own learning and community leadership journey, this program will inspire and challenge you to identify how your strengths can contribute to the Altona North and Brooklyn communities The program will bring together people with a passion to make a difference, as well as key organisations, to invent new responses to the challenges and opportunities in our community. Hobsons Bay’s Cultivate Community Leadership Program explores what it means to be an effective leader. Drawing on your personal experiences, a range of dynamic guest speakers and a diverse group of peers in the room, you will examine the essentials of community leadership including values and motivation, change, strategy and communication, and the power of networking.

12 sessions - one night per week Monday evenings

Excludes school holidays (2 to 9 April 2018)

6.00pm start until 9.30pm finish 

Additional excursion to Council Meeting on a Tuesday in April 2018
