Family support
The Family Services program aims to support and promote the health, wellbeing and functioning of families who are experiencing significant difficulties, in order to prevent or divert these families from entering more intrusive statutory services, such as Child Protection.
Service provision is child centred and family focused, based on a collaborative approach with families and builds on the strengths and competencies of the whole family.
The program provides families with information, referrals and support services. Support to families may include:
- Case management;
- Outreach;
- Counselling;
- Advocacy;
- Practical support;
- Parenting groups; and
- Assistance with drug and alcohol or gambling problems.
There is no cost for services and outreach services can be provided in the family home or other settings of the family’s choice.
