2018 Community Grants Program
Hobsons Bay City Council provides financial assistance through its annual Community Grants program to local community organisations and groups for activities and projects that meet a community need and address Council priorities. Projects are to be undertaken in the 2018 calendar year. Toyota Motor Corporation Australia also provides financial support to groups through this grants program.
Project applications for 2018 can be submitted between 5 June and 2 August 2017 by 5pm.
Notification of the outcome is anticipated in November 2017 via a letter with funds distributed to successful applicants in December 2017.
Council values the contribution community groups make to the wellbeing of the City of Hobsons Bay and looks forward to continuing to support community groups and organisations through its grants program.
Applicants are required to read the guidelines prior to applying.
The guidelines provide valuable information that will assist organisations in understanding Council’s grants program. Download guidelines here(PDF, 879KB).
Making an application
Grant applications will again be completed online, removing the need to print application forms and photocopy supporting documentation, which will hopefully save valuable time. Applications will be available from 5 June 2017.
From 5 June you will be able to apply using the following link: https://hobsonsbay.smartygrants.com.au. This will direct you to the SmartyGrants website. You will be required to provide personal information such as a personal email address to submit your application online.
If you do not have an email address, you can use a friend or family member’s address otherwise, staff at Hobsons Bay Libraries can help you create one. Ask at any of the libraries or call 1300 462 542 to make an appointment. Library staff can also assist you to complete the application online. However you must have details of the project with you.

Drop-in sessions and grant writing workshops
To learn about this year’s grants program, discuss project ideas or gain assistance using the online SmartyGrants program, there will be four drop-in sessions available to community members. Community members can drop in anytime during the session. There are also two workshops on how to write a community grant application. Download information about the free grant writing workshop and information sessions here(PDF, 382KB).
The list of 2016 and 2017 successful applicants is available at the bottom of this page.
