There are several parks and reserves in Hobsons Bay where dogs are allowed off-leash.

Other than the locations below, dogs must be on-leash in all other areas. Your pet must be under effective voice control at all times. On the spot penalties apply for dogs off leash outside of the designated areas and for failing to collect dog litter.

Dogs permitted
off-leash before 8am and after 9pm every day

Edwards Reserve

Area bounded by Truman, Brunel and Greene Streets, Spotswood

Dogs permitted
off-leash before 9am and after 9pm


Dogs on beaches

Dogs are restricted from these beaches from 10am to 9.30pm from 1 November to 30 April every year, seven days a week. At all other times, dogs must be on a leash.

  •  Williamstown Beach - between the Life Saving Club and Sebastian Beach Grill & Bar
  •  Altona Beach - between Romawi and Mount Street
