Hobsons Bay City Council has adopted a new Domestic Animals Management Plan for 2013-17. Key objectives of the Plan include to:
There are restrictions on the number of animals or birds you can keep, depending on the type of property you live in. You may also require a permit to keep certain animals.
Birds and other small caged animals are required to be kept in suitable structures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. These requirements not only protect the welfare of the animals or birds, they ensure that neighbouring properties are not affected by noise or odour.
Horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and other agricultural animals are not permitted without a permit.
