Maximum number of animals allowed

There are restrictions on the number of animals or birds you can keep, depending on the type of property you live in. You may also require a permit to keep certain animals.

Birds & small caged animals

Birds and other small caged animals are required to be kept in suitable structures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. These requirements not only protect the welfare of the animals or birds, they ensure that neighbouring properties are not affected by noise or odour.

 

Horses, donkeys & livestock

Horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and other agricultural animals are not permitted without a permit.
