Animal & Pet Permits
Hobsons Bay City Council has adopted a new Domestic Animals Management Plan for 2017-21, to view the plan, please click on the link in the related content at the bottom of the page.
Maximum number of animals allowed
There are restrictions on the number of animals or birds you can keep, depending on the type of property you live in. If you wish to keep more than the allowed number of animals a permit is required. A non-refundable application fee of $150 applies. You may also require a permit to keep certain animals.
Birds & small caged animals
Birds and other small caged animals are required to be kept in suitable structures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment. These requirements not only protect the welfare of the animals or birds, they ensure that neighbouring properties are not affected by noise or odour.
Horses, donkeys & livestock
Horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and other agricultural animals are not permitted without a permit.
