Understanding risk in small business

Understanding risk is a vital part of running any business, regardless of size. There are an ever increasing number of risks, particularly through the heightened reliance on the internet, social media and greater risk management by larger organisations who have adopted strategies of passing the risk off onto smaller enterprises. This session will look at how to identify risk, measure it, and plan to avoid it. It will explain that insurance is not the total cost of risk, but the cost to transfer the risk away from the small business owner and their family, to an insurance company. It is therefore not about obtaining the cheapest price, but understanding the key covers available and ensuring that the policy coverage and the claims service of the insurer are in line with your risk appetite. The hosts will be Insurance and Risk Management specialists who assist businesses at the time of a loss and the aim of this session is to ensure you have the appropriate knowledge and coverage in place for it is far too late after. Presented by LMI Group & Insurance Advisernet.
