Forest Fringe X Melbourne Fringe (Forest Exchange Lab Day of Action: Newport)

Friday, 29 September 2017
10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
The Substation 1 Market street, Newport

Presented by Melbourne Fringe and The Substation, in association with Hobsons Bay City Council -

The conversation is going global and the UK’s Forest Fringe comes to Melbourne’s west. UK-based risk-takers (and risk-chasers) Forest Fringe are on site in the western suburbs of Melbourne for the Forest Exchange Lab, a creative residency that explores the relationship between artmakers and the places where they make their art. Forest will be carving out a fringe-away-from-fringe, a space for critical conversation, deep experimentation and the seeding of new work.

This is part of Art and Public Places, a month-long, multi venue celebration of art and ideas, in all their forms, throughout Hobsons Bay. Everyday spaces become art sites as we discover artwork and artists from around the world and around the corner. Art in Public Places reminds us of the importance of public space for its ability to host diverse social exchanges and the communication of ideas to those who seek them, and those who happen upon them, in equal measure. Featuring a dynamic visual representation of sound, an augmented reality guided tour that takes care of you to, the international premier of a film about our very own Laverton, ‘Glow’ - by kids, for kids – and so much more.
