Important information about holding an event in Hobsons Bay.
Hobsons Bay has many unique locations suitable for holding many different types of events and festivals.
If you are planning to hold an event or festival on public land, you will need a permit. The application process to obtain the permit will vary depending on the type of event you are planning.

Information for event organisers
A series of Event Planning Guides have been developed to assist event organisers who wish to produce events within the municipality.
These guides outline the requirements of Council, regulatory authorities and emergency services providers and provide useful information to assist you in planning and delivering a safe event. The Event Planning Guides are in three parts and can be downloaded here:

Part One: A Guide to Holding an Event in the City of Hobsons Bay(PDF, 483KB) provides information on the event application process and the steps involved in getting your event permit from Council. It also provides information on the classification of events as well as on other permits, permissions and notifications you might need from other authorities.
Part Two: Developing an Event Plan lets you know how to provide the information needed in an Event Plan, which may be required for your event to gain approval.
Part Three: Risk Safety and Emergency Management(PDF, 757KB) helps you to identify, manage and record the risks associated with your event and includes sample templates.

Event Promotion and Marketing - Free Workshop
The Council's Events Unit will be hosting a free workshop on how to better promote your event and engage your audience:

Marketing specialist Ailsa Page of AP Marketing Works will be presenting the workshop, providing low- and no- cost ways to increase your reach through social media and clever marketing. In this fun and interactive thre hour workshop, you will develop event marketing skills and know-how and leave with our own event marketing action plan.
